TECHNICAL MANAGER
To ensure the company maintains a high level of technical competence and quality in all aspects of it business, recognized by external UKAS accreditation and client satisfaction, it requires a full-time focused professional to work alongside the existing team and lead the quality agenda in all aspects of the Company’s activities.
Full knowledge of Asbestos QA systems combined with operational aspects of an asbestos consultancy. In-depth knowledge of Asbestos, UKAS, RICE, and Aims schemes, experience of direct liaison with UKAS. At least two years Asbestos technical manager experience, ideally Relevant Asbestos Experience S301 Written & Oral Asbestos Certified Competent Person. Strong, Comprehensive and up to date knowledge of current and pending UK asbestos legislation & best practice.
Qualifications required:
- BOHS S301 + Oral and a full driving licence are essential base qualifications as is some experience in quality management.
- Membership of IOSH, or appropriate specialist professional body
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Computer literacy and keyboard skills
- Commercial awareness
- Experience in consultancy environment
- Ability to devise and set-up robust technical systems and monitoring processes
- Experience and authority to guide the professional and technical teams in the complex consultancy area

ANALYST
On the air testing side of the business the company carry out monitoring enclosure integrity checks - leak and clearance air monitoring - reassurance testing - environmental monitoring.
You will be providing technical compliance and will report into the UKAS Technical/Quality Manager. To be considered for this role, you will have a minimum of 2 years experience in asbestos air testing along with carrying out smoke, background, leak, reassurance, visual, 4 stage clearance, reoccupation and personal air testing. Successful candidates will have knowledge of current regulations as the role is involved heavily in Air Monitoring Work carried out to HSG248 / WHO standards, will already be BOHS P403 & 404 qualified and hold a full and clean UK driver’s license.
LEAD SURVEYOR
The company carries out Asbestos Surveys of specified areas of buildings, surveillance surveys, risk assessments, bulk sampling and in house analysis.
The successful candidate for positions of Lead Surveyor will P402 or S301 qualified with a P401 an advantage. The primary role as Lead Asbestos Surveyor will be to undertake type 1, 2 and 3 surveys and co-ordination/supervision of Surveying Team members, Junior Surveyors & Trainees. In addition the successful candidate will be responsible for providing quotations and specifications for clients, site survey work and associated collation of reports and documents, and liaising with clients on a regular basis. Candidates will have at least 2 years asbestos experience. A full and clean UK driver license is required as the role does involve traveling.
TRAINEE SURVEYOR
The successful applicants will assist Lead Surveyors and Surveying Teams on Projects, carrying out bulk sampling and training in the methods asbestos surveys. On completion of the initial training period candidates will be required to pass their P402 qualification, the Asbestos surveying qualification.
LABORATORY TECHNICIAN
The successful applicant will be responsible for Base Laboratory activity. Main duty of the Laboratory Technician is to analyze bulk samples to determine their asbestos content in reference to HSE publication HSG248. Analysis will be conducted using a polarized light microscope, complying with UKAS documentation and the Company Quality Systems Manual (CQSM) including all internal procedures from the Group Quality Manager.
Additionally you will be required to complete analysis test data sheets and attend operational team meetings when required. Other duties will include booking in samples received from site, typing Identification Report certificates, maintaining a clean laboratory, looking after the laboratory equipment and stock levels and ensuring that samples are disposed of in the appropriate manner.
To be considered for this role you will need to be P401 qualified, ideally with a degree in a relevant science or environmental discipline. You will have worked within a UKAS asbestos laboratory for at least six months.
PA / OFFICE ADMINISTRATOR
Working as part of a professional team in the provision of UKAS accredited services involving asbestos in all its forms. You will be supporting a range of clients including commercial and public sector groups. This is a true PA’s position where you will be providing full support. This will include; diary management, flight & hotel bookings, admin support, field front line queries and enquiries from external and internal personnel, dealing with queries in the absence of the Director’s, producing management reports etc. You will be fully IT literate and have good accurate administration skills. You will have the ability to multi task and prioritize your workload
Duties will also include, data handling and sorting/using spreadsheets, word documents and databases, organization of files and other documentation, both paper and electronic, compiling reports, including maps, data records and photographs, provision of support information and systems to field staff and managers. Responsibilities: Develop and maintain productive customer relationships, providing high levels of service to ensure customer satisfaction. Liaises with internal departments to ensure resolution of queries in a timely manner. Participates in the review and revision of team procedures, processes and policies. Provides departmental support as and when required. Production process is completed accurately and within agreed timelines.
Experience: You will need to be computer literate, confident and competent in dealing with people. This role will ideally suit a second jobber with at least 2 years clerical experience; the role will involve lots of data input so you must have fast and accurate keyboard skills. You will also be required do general administration such as faxing and filing on an ad hoc basis, you will also be dealing with telephone calls so a clear speaking voice and good telephone manner is required
